Meli is a corn-fed mama born and raised in the Midwest on a steady diet of slashers and b-movies. Her weekend nights were always dedicated to Tales from the Darkside, Tales from the Crypt (her grandma’s favorite), Freddy’s Nightmares, Elvira’s Movie Macabre, and Gilbert Gottfried’s Up All Night! Other times she was forced to sit through multiple viewings of Ticks (1993), her aunt and uncle’s favorite, of which the family would quote lines from constantly – “I’M INFESTED!”
Meli’s horror obsession took a back seat when she hit puberty and discovered boys. After chasing them all the way to Japan and back, Meli eventually rediscovered her love of horror when she stumbled upon the Canadian horror mag Rue Morgue. Through the Rue Morgue message board she met up with Colum and Pat who perverted her mind further with sick and twisted fiction. She hasn’t looked back since.
Meli scours the web, used bookstores, libraries, and yard sales devouring every dreadful piece of fiction in her path. Some of her
favorite authors are John Everson, Jeff Strand, Bryan Smith, and Greg Lamberson. And authors she’s most looking forward to discovering more about are Lisa Mannetti, Joan Frances Turner, Lincoln Crisler, Wrath James White, and J.R. Parks.
She’s also just discovered a love for Richard Laymon and her favorite reads often blend erotica and horror. She doesn’t mind a little romance once in a while, but keep that a secret, chick’s got a reputation to uphold!
