It’s been quite a while since the last Bloody Bytes, but on the eve of the biggest shopping day in the US, we definitely need it! I’ve searched high and low, near and far, for Black Friday digital deals & steals. While I didn’t come across many legit Black Friday sales, I still have some great digital reads for cheap that you can enjoy this extended holiday weekend and a couple miscellaneous goodies as well. So, if you’re gearing up for the door buster events and training for tomorrow’s Black Friday chaos, here are some digital treats for yourself at a low price that won’t make you feel guilty.
John Everson’s Siren is one of my favorite horror novels and among Everson’s best work. Typically, the digital version runs about $6.99, but the Kindle edition is on sale now for a meager $1.99. A couple bones for his erotic masterpiece is a true steal, so get it while it’s hot!
As fans gear up for the long-awaited fourth novel in Jeff Strand’s Andrew Mayhem series, Lost Homicidal Maniac (Answers to “Shirley), he is offering the previous three books for only $2.99. For those who haven’t checked out this series yet, this is a great chance to pick up Graverobbers Wanted (No Experience Necessary), Single White Psychopath Seeks Same, and Casket For Sale (Only Used Once!). These are all available at that price for Kindle and over at Smashwords. Not only can you get all those books for just $2.99, but Strand has a slew of other titles at that price too. You can pick up Wolf Hunt, a high-octane werewolf thriller, The Sinister Mr. Corpse, and Mandibles which is about giant killer ants! You could get all the titles I just mentioned for $18! You’re not gonna find that kinda deal at Walmart or the mall at midnight on Thanksgiving.
Also in the $2.99 price range is Gabrielle Faust’s Regret. If you haven’t read this book, you need to pick it up, NOW! Colum gave this little novella a glowing review back in the Paperback Horror days which you can check out here for further convincing. At that price, this is the perfect time to find out what you’ve been missing or you can be a hero and gift it to a friend.
For those who don’t do digital, you can get Faust’s Regret as well as many other Dark Regions Press titles at 33% off starting at midnight tonight! For one day only, use the coupon code DARKFRIDAY and get 33% off these items. I’m a huge fan of Dark Regions Press, so I will be taking full advantage of this sale. Visit their website to peruse the titles and stock your virtual shopping cart!
You’ll see Bryan Smith’s name often here at Dreadful Tales. One of the heavy hitters in the genre currently and a Dreadful Tales favorite, Smith offers Laymon-inspired yarns with a romantic sensibility. You can snag Smith’s latest effort, an urban fantasy novel called Kayla and the Devil, for the ubiquitous $2.99 in Kindle format. Most of Smith’s work is available at just under 3 bones, so if you haven’t had a chance to read his stuff any title will be a winner.
In addition to the great deals mentioned above, Kindle users can enjoy a good classic for free! You can pick up every volume of The Works of Edgar Allan Poe, Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein, The Phantom of the Opera and more for absolutely nothing. What better time than the dark and dreary days of winter to revisit these oldies-but-goodies. Here’s a link to The Works of Edgar Allan Poe: Volume 1. Once there, you’ll see a ton more available titles that won’t cost you a penny! While I couldn’t find these free titles for Nook users, many of these books are still available for just under a buck.
Not a digital deal, but of interest for Dreadful Tales readers who will be out tomorrow, a nifty coupon to Half Price Books! If you’re battling the crowds and knocking over old ladies to get gifts for your loved ones, you deserve some even further discounted half-priced books. For Black Friday only, you can get 40% off your highest priced item or $15 off a purchase of $50 or more. The books are already half-priced so that additional savings is quite a deal. Get the coupon here.
I’m gonna close out this Black Friday edition of Bloody Bytes with a non-digital, non-literary deal, but horror related nonetheless. I love to listen to horror talk radio and one of my favorites is Deadpit Radio. Hosted by The Creepy Kentuckian, Uncle Bill, and newest member (and mommy!) Jessco, this down home radio show feature news, interviews, and reviews for the horror movie lover. The Creepy Kentuckian posted via Facebook that they will be offering Deadpit On The Road seasons 1-3 for just $30! Usually these DVDs are $15 a pop, so $30 for the bundle is a once-in-a-Black-Friday opportunity for Deadpit fans. That’s over 3 hours of horror movie reviews each season! Check back at the Dead Mart to pick yours up tomorrow.
That’s it for this edition of Bloody Bytes.
Happy Thanksgiving, y’all!
